Distortion - Live Music Venue
3828 MacLeod Trail S., Calgary, Alberta T2G 2R2
This November Aggression is doing a special cross Canada tour to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the Full Treatment album. They will play the Full Treatment in it's entirety. They will be taking over Distortion — Live Music Venue on November 17th with direct support from Calgary's Divinity. Also on the bill are local favorites Hammerdrone and WORLD CLASS WHITE TRASH and Edmonton's Tessitura Official.
Aggression was formed in the spring of 1985 (originally under the moniker «Asylum»), by the 2 guitar shredders Sasquatch
and Burn. Rounding out the lineup was Botcher on vocals, Dug on Bass and Gate on drums. After a few demos they
recorded «Forgotten Skeleton» in 1986. Unfortunately the album would not see a release until 2005. (Almost 20 years later!)
After some lineup changes, Aggression recorded and released 1987's The Full Treatment.
They received good reviews for there demos and The Full Treatment, and very quickly became one of the most popular metal bands in Quebec and Canada. Their concerts were sold out everywhere, and the fanbase grew from hundreds to thousands in no time. But due to certain members drug habits and
bad decision making the band was all but dead in 1989.
Fast forward to 2005. The 1986 unreleased album Forgotten Skeleton gets released and see's the band reunite at Montreal Metal Massacre fest 2005. Unable to commit to anthing more than a few reunion shows it was decided that the band would be
put to rest once more. Until 2014 and the band was resurrected with some new members jumping into the frey. They have been burning up the Canadian highways with a vengeance ripping our faces off festival after and festival and having successful tours into the US and Europe in between it all as well. Come join us to celebrate the 30 Year anniversary of the release of The Full Treatment and experience the album LIVE as Aggression performs it in its entirety!
Calgary's Divinity is poised to bring their live onslaught on the road. With skills and a dominating stage show honed over the years since the band’s formation in 1997, DIVINITY is an intense and unrelenting live force, bringing their unique brand of Metal to the people.
Future plans for the band include a continuation of spreading the seed to other markets such as the US and Europe, promotional onslaughts in major publications across Canada and web. Forging partnerships and making fans along the way, DIVINITY is hungry to burn their mark on the annals of 21st century Metal, as they continue to progress towards their destiny as one of Western Canada’s most esteemed acts.
A perpetual Calgary favorite, Hammerdrone is an aggressive melodic Death Metal band that mixes ferocious energy with dark atmosphere. The band features Graham Harris on vocals, Vinnie Cardellini on drums, Rick Cardellini on lead guitar, Curtis Beardy on rhythm guitar and backing vocals and Teran Wyer on bass. Forming in October 2010, they released their debut, a 4-track EP («A Demon Rising») in 2012, and a single, «Wraiths On The Horizon» in March 2013. In February 2014, the band released their debut full-length, «Clone Of Europa». After taking a bit of a hiatus, the band returned taking the scene by storm. They released their second full-length album, «Dark Harvest» in March 2017 with very favorable reviews. The word is that they are working on their next album. If you haven't seen them before, you are in for a real treat.
WORLD CLASS WHITE TRASH been going strong since 2010. With a few line-up changes over the years, WCWT has had one goal in mind the whole time: to bring you the heaviest, grooviest, and most violent music they can muster!
Since 2008, Edmonton-based Tessitura Official have been taunting the western Canadian underground metal scene with their eclectic blend of Melodic Death Metal, Progressive Music and Classic Thrash. They meticulously craft their unique sound by layering the edge-of-your-seat, earth-shaking guitar work of Stephan Ceña, backing it up with Leillyn McColman's up-lifting bass lines and the driving drum patterns of Gord Alexander, and finishing the sound with the dual-vocal freight train of Ceña and lead vocalist Cyn Mercredi's powerful screams and haunting growls. Tessitura can be heard at one of their thunderous live performances, or on their current releases, 'Savage Embrace'(2013) & 'Battle to Eternity'(2010).
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
You can buy them on line at myshowpass.com/aggression-divinity-hammerdrone-wcwt-tessitura/. Physical tickets will be available by July 1st at Distortion and Sloth Records.
