YEG Music Presents:
STEAM WHISTLE MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL

Lyrique +plus:
(Bio Coming Soon)

The Corey Hotline: From the smoking ashes of Alright Gents, rises The Corey Hotline. The most serious (not serious) rock band from Calgary, Alberta. The Corey Hotline’s music is influenced by inanimate objects such as temporary glitter tattoos and stolen bowling shoes. It’s theme music for hot summer bike rides that result in skinny dipping in a public park or an aquacise aerobics class that turns into a cannon ball contest. The Corey Hotline is eager to please. The music is hot, heavy, and the phone lines are ready.

Free the Cynics:
'Free the Cynics defy the tired hat of rock ‘n’ roll and deliver something new and refreshing.' — Beatroute

The Static Shift:
The Static Shift is a power trio comprised of Mitchell Brady (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Keone Friesen (Bass, Back-Up Vocals), and Isaiah Stonehouse (Drums, Back-Up Vocals) whose original works form an electrifying collaboration of free flowing precision, old school vibe, and high energy blues / rock. Inspired by the 60s and 70s, their sound radiates classic / blues rock n’ roll rides with romps of alternative, indie and psychedelic rock. The Album Windsor Street released in 2014 was acclaimed for strong guitar riff’s, flowing vocals, and booming support grooves. The Static Shift is in the Top 100 Bands of the Year, by Forkster. Performing venues such as Flames Central, McEwan Hall, The Blues Can, The Roxy, and multiple festivals in Alberta and BC — The Lilac, Beaumont Roots and Blues, and Steamboat Mountain Music Festival to name a few. We have shared the stage with artists like Colin James, Tim Williams, The Sheepdogs, and more. Multiple Best Band, Best Performance, and Best Youth Band winners, and finalists in the 2014 International Songwriters Competition (ISC), top 12 out of more than 18,750 entries. Emulating the hay days of rock and roll in both sound and on stage, The Static Shift is a must see for live music enthusiasts.

The Varmoors:
The Varmoors are a 5 piece loose legged rock'n'roll band that hails from Calgary, AB. Here for a good time, sending the classic 60's and 70's rock vibe. Working on their upcoming EP «These Days,» The Varmoors have released 2 singles, and «Asphalt Waves» is generating a buzz within it's first week of release. The band is all about musical fusion, and being friends since grade-school, give a highly energetic and fun fueled live show.

Abductees:
Although new to the Calgary music scene, alt-rock band Abductees have made a name for themselves by performing every note with scathing intensity.

Crooked Spies:
We are a bunch of buds making music we care about. For us it's simple, serve the song and have as much fun as possible doing the thing we love most.

Dane:
Dane the duo comprises a couple of young humble musicians, with Dane's bassist and lead vocalist being energetic and entertaining with the ability to bring new innovation to the strings, Dane's drummer is electric in his energy and deliveries a heart pounding performance, together they create a full and vibrant «Rock and Roll» sound. Dane triggers the connections of originality and innovation that the duo hold within themselves and they express from an extrinsic point of view.

Dane started their genesis in the land of allure “Nelson, BC”, debuting on Kootenay Coop Radio. The Duo made their way back to Calgary starting fresh as a youthful band playing many local shows: The Palomino, The Gateway, Broken City, Ironwood Stage and Grill, just to name a few. Each and every step they take brings them and many others closer to experiencing the fruits of their labour of love and passion for music.

Jonathan Ferguson and Long Jon Lev:
Featuring the thoughtful, poignant lyrics and memorable, hummable melodies of Canadian songsmith Jonathan Ferguson, Long Jon Lev’s Telltale Heart is an album by a band giving in wholeheartedly to their ecleticism and love of surprises. The ever-changing rootsy-pop outfit moves wilfully from driving (Atlas Let Go) to sweet (Girl I Know) to a rollicking, floor-stomping moment of self-reflection (Charity Quilt), all without giving the slightest hint of where they’re going next. Then they do it again.

It’s clear that Long Jon Lev lives to do just one thing: Play smart, catchy music that charms its way into your heart, turns on your brain, and tugs at your soul.

The North Sound is cold like a Saskatchewan winter. It's humid as a summer day in the streets of Montreal. As unpredictable as the weather in a singular Calgary day. The North Sound is ever-changing with the world around us, encompassing each and every pivotal moment, from road trips as a kid to finding your way as an adult. It's feeling lost but knowing you're loved. The North Sound is an attempt at trying to close the gap reflected in the vast space of the open Canadian landscape.

Forming in the summer of 2014, The North Sound has been working hard to shape their sound into what has become an original take on folk, rock and pop genres. Their «Soul-Folk» sound can only be described as truly Canadian. The North Sound is currently in the studio working on their first record titled «The Valley» set to drop late 2016
