Thousands of low-income Calgarians are now riding the bus using a $5.05/month transit pass that opens doors to civic and community life. However, due to the overwhelming response to the sliding scale program, the City is projecting a $3 to $4 million funding shortfall. A city budget adjustment meeting on November 27th will review this program and explore ways to deal with the shortfall.
Together with Fair Calgary Community Voices, a local transportation advocacy group, we’re asking Calgarians to write their Councillors about the need to keep Calgary’s Sliding Scale Low-Income Transit Pass affordable and accessible.
Join us for letter writing, good snacks, and see advocacy in action.
Key messages, tips, and supplies with be provided.
