Take a walk on the wild side with Wisewood Apothecary's Practical Herbalist, Cheyenne Caza, on our popular Survival Plant Walks. Learn about plant identification, sustainable harvesting, safety, as well as local plants that are suitable for building materials, for eating, and for treating common survival oriented illnesses/injuries. Each location we host these walks at boasts their own unique plant communities, so don't be shy about joining us regularly!
Our Survival Plant Walks are BY-DONATION — no strings attached! That's right, you simply pay what you can. We generally receive between $10 and $40 per person and the best part is that half of the funds are donated to local charities and organizations. Monthly, we choose a new group to support and for the month of February, it will be Ecojustice, Canada's largest environmental law charity.
A refreshing herbal BEVERAGE and PRIZE DRAW are included, please bring a mug to help limit our use of disposable cups.
Meeting Point ---> Carburn Park, beside the only parking lot, on the western side. Call 587-500-5166 if you have trouble finding us. A map can be found in the discussion section, or at this link: goo.gl/3e9PRn
Odds & Ends ---> Though we generally saunter more than hike, the uneven terrain may be rough for some people as there is often lots of roots, mud, fallen logs, and other terrain difficulties. Dress right for Calgary, Alberta weather; in layers with solid footwear. The public washrooms onsite are closed for the season. We will be there, rain or snow, but will cancel for inclement weather. Carpooling is usually available if organized in advance. We accept cash, credit card, e-transfers, and trades.

— About Instructor: Cheyenne Caza is the backbone of Wisewood Apothecary, and has earned the designations of Practical Herbalist and Reflexologist through Wild Rose College of Natural Healing and Lodgepole Wholistic Studies. Born and raised in Calgary, she spent much of her time adventuring around in forests of poplar, eating saskatoon berries, and sleeping among the tenacious plants of Alberta's breathtaking landscapes. It was there that she developed a deep seeded devotion toward obtaining a more formal education in herbal medicine and alternative health care. Providing people, from all walks of life, a chance to access affordable herbal direction grew to become the spine of her operation with spirited focus on local superfoods and weeds. Now you can join her in exploring vast plant-based knowledge that has truly withstood the test of time ♥
