Join us for this once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Anthony Sherwood during Black History month at The Military Museum!
Award-winning actor, producer, and director Anthony Sherwood joins us at The Military Museums to tribute African-Canadian history with his award-winning docu-drama, Honour Before Glory. His film is the story of Canada’s segregated black unit, No. 2 Construction Battalion, formed during WWI, and the tremendous obstacles its members overcame. The true story is based on the diary of Sherwood’s great uncle, Captain William White, the battalion Chaplain and only black commissioned officer in the British Armed Forces.
In his 35-year career in film, stage, and motion pictures, Anthony Sherwood has appeared in over 75 films across North America worked with stars such as Christopher Reeves, Jessica Alba, Martin Sheen, and Jamie Lee Curtis, and starred in 80s television series Street Legal. His accomplishments in documentary filmmaking and passion for social justice and human rights issues won him numerous national and international awards.
Sherwood will reveal his unique family history and his personal relationship to this special project. The director and producer of
Honour Before Glory will discuss the trials and tribulations in making the film and how the documentary has impacted communities across Canada and abroad.
