Having a physical disability makes life difficult, and my family's Asian heritage hasn't always been conducive to creative artistic expression. Regardless, I’ve been writing poetry since 2002, and first entered the world of spoken word in 2015. I’ve made friends, met idols, won slams, was the 2016 Grand Slam Champion of London Ontario, and had the profound honour of competing at CIPS and CFSW both twice each. Walking in the world of spoken word poetry has let me experience love, vulnerability, and community like I never knew possible. Watching and learning from so many amazing people, being able to express myself honestly, it’s helped me realize that broken doesn’t mean worthless. That my words and my experiences matter. I consider myself a poet, performer, and entertainer, and for the first time in my life I'm proud to say that.
