From July 27 – August 12, 2018, you’re invited to explore WRECK CITY’s first ever multi-venue exhibition, located across four independent sites in SW Calgary. Spanning from Marda Loop to Downtown Calgary, the exhibition occurs in 4 locations:
HOUSE CITY (2240 33 AVE SW)
OLD CITY (908 17th AVE SW)
RADIO CITY (812A 16th AVE SW)
OFFICE CITY (706 7 AVE SW)
Each site personifies different aspects of Calgary to create a new WRECK CITY.
Over the last 5 weeks, 21 artists from across North America have been participating in the WRECK CITY Residency, creating new site-specific artworks. Responding to subjects through
installation, sculptures, urban intervention, performance action, deconstruction, mark-making, and other experimental works, artists have been occupying two houses in Marda Loop while building artworks across the city. The resulting exhibition will be immersive and thought-provoking, inviting viewers to explore new parts of Calgary hidden in plain sight.
The WRECK CITY Residency is free and open to the public. Opening on Friday, July 27! For a full list of artists, performances, and hours, visit wreckcity.ca.
